Designed in 1917 by Louis Cartier, the eldest grandson of the Maison’s founder, the iconic Tank Watch has always embodied timelessness and elegance. Over time, Tank became the watch of the artistic and cultural avant-garde who appreciated its purity of line andcreativity. The Tank collection is constantly reinventing itself through new interpretations, while maintaining the original, historical style codes. In 2024, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Watches of Switzerland, Cartier has designed an iconic creation: aTank Louis Cartier in a Numbered Limited Edition of 100 pieces, exclusively available at Watches of Switzerland boutiques. Introduced in1922 the Tank Louis Cartier was an unapologetic choice of the rectangular form, further distinguished by soft angles and the distinct roundness of the tops of the lugs. This piece fastidiously embodied the contribution made by LouisCartier to the modern stylelater known as Art Deco. The proud, taught lines of the square and rectangle appear more gently, and the geometry of the corners isrelaxed. The Cartier and Watches of Switzerland Tank Louis Cartier (Numbered Limited Edition of just100) will be available to our watch collectors and Cartier fans from June with “Preview Reveal” appointments from February. This timepiece features a sophisticatedand elevated design to appeal to all genders, with a brushed gold dial offering a subtle radiant effect. Supplied on an elegant dark-navy alligator strap it offers a timelessly elegant pairing whilst drawing attention to the deep blue of the Sapphire cabochon inthe crown and its blued-steel hands. The mechanical movement, 1917MC, a Manufacture Cartier calibre, is one present in many recent Tank Louis Cartier and Tank Asymétrique models. The case back has been given a specialWatches of Switzerland engraving signifying thelong-lasting collaboration between these two partners and additionally offers the opportunity to create a personalised, numerical link between the timepiece and its owner.
