Overall Condition: Great overall condition with some minor wear appearing on its polished surfaces in direct light. The dial, hands, and markers are all in pristine condition.

Born in 1815, Ferdinand Adolph Lange laid the foundation for one of watchmaking’s most revered names. Trained in Dresden and under royal clockmaker Johann Christian Friedrich Gutkaes, Lange combined technical rigor with a vision for precision manufacturing that would ultimately define Saxon horology. In 1845, he established A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte, introducing tools and processes that elevated accuracy to new heights. Though the brand was dissolved following World War II, it was revived after German reunification in the 1990s by his great-grandson, Walter Lange, restoring the manufacture to its rightful place among the world’s finest.

The 1815 collection exists as a tribute to that legacy.

Rooted in traditional Saxon design yet filtered through a modern lens, the 1815 is all about proportion and restraint. There’s a quiet confidence here — nothing unnecessary, nothing overstated. This Reference captures that balance beautifully, housed in a 40mm 18K pink gold case with a sapphire crystal and display back. The 'satin' silver dial is classic Lange: crisp black 'Arabic' numerals, a recessed small seconds at six, and blued steel 'Alpha' hands that provide just the right amount of contrast.

Turn the watch over, and the story deepens. The manually wound Caliber L051.1 is on full display — a masterclass in German watchmaking. Three-quarter plate construction, hand-engraved balance cock, gold chatons, and flawless finishing throughout. It’s the kind of movement that invites you to pause, look closer, and then look again.

Fitted to a brown leather strap with a signed pink gold pin buckle, this 1815 is understated at a glance, but endlessly rewarding over time.
