First presented in 1932 with the Reference 96, the Patek Philippe Calatrava established the template for the modern dress watch. Nearly a century later, its influence can still be seen throughout the watch industry.

The Reference 96 was also among the earliest watches introduced under the Stern family's stewardship after their acquisition of Patek Philippe. This example, Reference 5127R-001, captures that enduring spirit in warm 18K rose gold. Produced during the 2010s, it features a beautifully proportioned 37mm case with classic downturned lugs, a polished bezel, sapphire crystal, signed crown, and screw-down sapphire display caseback revealing the finely finished self-winding movement within. The size strikes a near-perfect balance, offering contemporary presence while maintaining the refined character expected of a true Calatrava.

The silvered dial is a study in understated sophistication, furnished with applied rose-gold indices, a delicate dot minute track, matching dauphine hands, and a framed date aperture at 3 o'clock. Fitted to a signed brown alligator leather strap with an 18k rose-gold pin buckle, this watch is also accompanied by its original Certificate of Origin from the 2010s.
