Seiko Silverwave Diver

Overall Condition: Very good condition overall. Case shows normal signs of wear associated with age and use. Dial and handset show light patination throughout. Bracelet shows light wear and normal stretch.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Seiko was undergoing a rebirth of sorts. The brand's position as official timer for the 1964 Summer Olympics, held in Tokyo, gave it exposure on a global scale. The following year, they launched what would become the first in a long line of dive watches.

While many of Seiko's most famous dive pieces come from the 1970s, in the 1960s, the Silverwave line served as the progenitor to almost all modern Seiko divers. The Silverwave was the first Seiko to feature an inner rotating bezel, first automatic with a screwdown caseback for added waterproofing, and it was truly the brand's first attempt at dive watches more generally.

Sadly, today, many have forgotten the importance of this family of watches. Until now!
