There was a period when Universal Genève could stand comfortably alongside some of Switzerland’s finest manufactures, producing watches that combined elegant design with genuinely innovative mechanics. This wonderfully restrained “Calatrava”-style dress watch is a particularly good example.

The Calatrava nickname here is descriptive rather than an official Universal Genève designation, referring to the classic round case, slim bezel, and clean dress-watch proportions.
