Their signature engine-turned dials, individually numbered and hand-finished, are simply beautiful works of art. The brand also has equally impressive mechanical watchmaking chops to match. Patented in 1801 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the tourbillon was designed to compensate for the chronometric inaccuracies gravity inflicts on pocket watch movements. In modern times, tourbillons don't have a practical advantage for timekeeping since wristwatches are always being worn in different positions throughout the day, but nonetheless, the tourbillon is a tribute to the quest for accuracy and excellence in fine watchmaking.

The Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra Plat isn’t merely the proud recipient of an excellent Breguet dial, however — it’s also a masterful blend of complicated simplicity. The timekeeping display is executed with blued Breguet hands at the center, a stunning tourbillon cage at 5 o'clock, and power reserve at 8:30. Measuring 41mm in diameter, the piece is an incredibly svelte 7.1mm to wear comfortably and compactly in spite of its complication. The secret? A brilliant slender automatic winding movement, Calibre 581 DR ticking within, measuring just 3mm in thickness.
