Introducing the Streamliner Perpetual Calendar

Back in 2005 H. Moser & Cie returned to Haute Horlogerie with Perpetual 1, a revolution of the infamous perpetual calendar. Although the movement appeared to be quite simplistic, like a caliber with a date and three hands, it quite simply was a stroke of genius and became recognized as one of the Manufacture’s key products. Now, this movement has been reimagined and recreated to feature four central hands and a more contemporary appearance. Added to that, this timepiece has been embraced by the Streamliner collection to create the Streamliner Perpetual Calendar.

The Streamliner collection was the obvious choice to integrate this new movement, developed in-house by H. Moser & Cie. Launched in 2020, this collection propelled the brand to new heights, so it was only natural to fuse these two icons together.

The Ingenuity of the Movement

the hand-wound HMC 812 caliber has the added advantage of a direct-drive central seconds hand and uses the indices to indicate the months by the small red and white central seconds hand. Its incredible power reserve of 168 hours is displayed at 10 o'clock via an indicator and the date features within a window at 4 o'clock, scaled up due to the grand design of the two superimposed discs operating consecutively from 1-15 and then 16-31 to showcase the date. The "Flash Calendar" instantaneous date change mechanism means that the date changes with immediacy from midnight. This incredible movement can be viewed through the sapphire caseback which showcases a contemporary design featuring the signature H. Moser double horizontal stripes and anthracite grey PVD coating on the escapement plate, barrel, train wheels and balance bridges, with the main plate being microblasted and featuring anthracite rhodium plating.

A Timepiece with Harmonious Proportions

Featuring rounded curves which reflect the curves of the first high-speed trains from the 20s and 30s from which it takes its name, the Streamliner Perpetual Calendar is a vision of beauty. The 42.3mm steel cushion case features an off-center crown positioned at 4 o'clock, embellished with the "M" and in line with the date window. The sunray brushed finish bezel complements the combination of brushed and polished surfaces on the side of the case. The signature fumé dial features a red and white outer minute track with three-dimensional curved hands featuring inserts made from Globolight®, an innovative ceramic material containing Super-Luminova®. The seconds, hour and months hands are all evocative of a typical measuring instrument or car dashboard. The domed Glassbox type sapphire crystal echoes the curves of the case which also extend to the integrated steel bracelet. The curvature and unique design of the links is a complex construction of articulated links with a gentle wave. The Streamliner Perpetual Calendar elegantly caresses the most slender of wrists and has a hidden complexity made simple by its ingenious fusion.
